We finished our winter NH 48 4,000 footer list on Mt. Jefferson! It was a tough yet rewarding hike with lots of rugged miles above treeline fully exposed to the elements.

We did this 22 mile out and back hike from Lincoln Woods to Bondcliff, Bond, and West Bond in winter for 45, 46, and 47 of our winter New Hampshire 4,000 footers!
Hiking North Twin, South Twin, Zealand, and Hale in a 20 mile lollipop loop is a big undertaking in any season, but even more so in winter. It was just 1 degree at the trailhead and below zero for much of the day! This was a really tiring hike, but one that we felt really proud of completing.
Temperatures in the single digits and teens did not deter us from hiking this out and back to Middle and North Tripyramid Mountains in winter for 37 and 38 of our winter NH 48.
Hiked up to Whiteface and Passaconaway via Blueberry Ledge Trail for numbers 35 and 36 of our winter New Hampshire 48 4,000 footers on an unseasonably warm winter day with blue skies above the clouds.
We hiked this lovely, relatively easy 1.5 mile loop with views of Franconia Notch, Franconia Ridge, and Cannon Mountain on an overcast winter day.
On an extremely cold and perfectly clear winter day, we hiked up Valley Way to two peaks along the Presidential Range in New Hampshire: Mount Madison and Mount Adams.
All told, in 2021 we hiked over 500 miles, backpacked the Trans-Catalina Trail in California, finished hiking the New England 67 4,000 footer list, and most importantly, tried to stay as present and grateful as possible during these experiences.
We have now hiked Mt. Jackson four times, once in each season. Since completing the NH48, we’ve set a challenging goal of hiking all the 48 in Winter and a follow up goal of hiking all of the 48 in all 4 seasons.
